Life is about what makes you happy. If that’s children (and you’re lucky enough to be blessed with them) that is great. Equally if that’s a dog (or two or three), then why should you be denied the privileges granted to traditional ‘parents?’

Gertie’s first evening at home resulted in meltdown! We had an 8 week old puppy who was crate bound and distressed, and a 13 year old pampered pooch cowering under the bed upstairs! What had we done?
So how did we get from complete chaos, to a puppy who now loves her crate and even goes to bed before us every night?!

Wiltshire is the most perfect place for dog walks. Although it is a land locked county it has everything you could wish for. Woodland walks, stunning scenery, down-land, pretty towns and chocolate box villages.

The world as we knew it, came crashing to a grinding halt overnight. My initial thoughts were what about puppy classes? Training classes? What about meeting other dogs in general? Gertie was going to miss out on so much. However, when I took a step back, I realised that socialisation doesn’t necessarily mean being sociable!

I am not professing to be an expert, I’m sure there are other tried and tested ways to toilet train a puppy, but this method has worked for me. In just a few days we had an almost fully trained pup.

The minute we stepped through the front door I knew that Pops and I were going to feel incredibly at home. Greeted by an impressive flag stone hallway, adorned with tasteful antique furniture, we made our way through to the main living area. A fabulous light and airy space which opens out onto a patio and enclosed rear garden.
