As animal lovers ourselves, we know that it is great to be able to take your pet with you on holiday and know that they are having a good time too! The Forest of Dean is the perfect location for dogs in particular as there are miles upon miles of footpaths to explore and lots of good foresty smells to investigate.
Our cottages are situated in the perfect position
* Away from busy roads
* Small common on the doorstep for exercising your pet
* Many walks from the door of the cottage (details of these in the cottage)
We welcome pets at a charge of £10 per stay, please note that Robin Cottage does not accept pets.
I have stayed twice in this delightful studio apartment, adjacent to two other lovely little cottages which make up a trio of holiday accommodation – Dean Cottages – on a common just above Mitcheldean. Small but perfectly formed it is ideal for 1 person or a cosy couple. Cleverly designed, attractively furnished and well equipped it is all on 1 level and faces onto a front lawn, the common and woods. I took my pet guinea pigs with me and they were very relaxed. Although many dogs have stayed here with their owner(s), the studio was spotlessly clean and fresh. The enclosed wildlife garden is opposite the pair of cottages (Robin and Wren) and is ideal for a dog to run around safely, or just to sit in and watch the birds and admire the views. There are numerous walks accessible from Dean Cottages and a choice of many others within a 10 mile radius. Dean Heritage Centre 6 miles away has a cafe with a balcony and accepts dogs; the food is excellent and you can walk off the calories round Soudely pools or along forest trails. I am already planning my third visit. Karen and Liz are excellent hostesses – welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
