Situated in the heart of rural West Dorset, the Fox Inn is the perfect place to get away from it all, with lots of lovely walks in the surrounding area.
We are a VERY dog friendly pub. George and Milly, our 2 friendly Spingers love to meet, greet and make friends with our four legged & two legged guests & you’ll always find free dog biscuits on the bar.
*We have to request that your dogs are at least 1 year old & house trained to stay in the Fox Inn accommodation.
We have a fully equipped doggie wet room, purpose built especially for your pampered pooch after a lovely walk in the Dorset countryside. The wet room is situated close to the bar and includes a shower, dryer, grooming table, towels, shampoos, etc. Use of the wet room is free of charge for our resident dogs. A small charge will be charged to non-resident dogs.
We visited the Fox Inn at Ansty, for an extremely delicious Sunday carvery, on our way to the coast. I knew they were dog friendly, but wow, they don’t just do dog friendly, they completely embrace it!
There is only one small section, at the rear of the pub, where dogs aren’t allowed, but apart from that they are welcome everywhere.
If you’re staying there with your dog, they have a doggy shower room where you can give your pooch a nice hot rinse off after exploring the stunning Dorset countryside (no cold hoses here!) They even provide doggy shampoo and towels, along with aprons for us ‘human slaves’ to wear so you don’t get soaked along with your dog!
In addition, they even have walk guides, which are available to purchase (the proceeds of which go to charity) so that if you’re unfamiliar with the area, or looking for new walks there’s plenty of suggestions.
I really can’t recommend this pub highly enough, I’ve been to very few pubs where Poppy dog has been made to feel as welcome as us. We’ll definitely be returning at some point to stay for longer and explore the area.
