Puddle Duck Cottage and Duckling Cottage are two luxury self catering holiday cottages that, we’re proud to say, have been featured as one of the top places to stay by The Telegraph. Located in the heart of the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire which is home to the World’s first cast iron bridge and birthplace of the industrial revolution, Ironbridge features ten award winning museums including Blists Hill Victorian Town, Enginuity, Jackfield Tile Museum, Tar Tunnel and Coalport China Museum.
Each holiday cottage offers a truly home from home holiday experience, in a tranquil and peaceful location next to the River Severn at Jackfield There are a fabulous choice of pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk, and the cottages are located near to the Wrekin Way footpath, providing our guests with traffic free scenic walks and cycle trails to enjoy during their stay. The picturesque centre of Ironbridge is only one mile away and has a lovely selection of independent shops and excellent places to dine out.
We were very impressed with the location. The thoughtful extras were much appreciated. All rooms were carefully and tastefully furnished. We would love to return.

This was our second visit and we can’t imagine how the owners could do any more to make us and our dog welcome. The location is wonderful and the cottage is an absolute delight – we’ll be back
Sonia and Darren have done a fantastic job to make Duckling Cottage such a cosy home away from home. The cottage is beautiful, clean and modern, with everything you need. So many lovely little touches when you arrive for both humans and doggies that we felt very welcome indeed. There are so many beautiful walks and great pubs to walk to from the cottage door, that in 3 days we didn’t scratch the surface. Our two beagles were safe in the beautiful gardens and had a fantastic time beagling about. We hope to book again very soon.
The cottages are both fantastic, we stayed in the Ducking Cottage which is a lovely beautiful place, it’s in a great spot and is so quiet. The ducking is a new build but they’ve made sure that the cottage feel remained, there is nothing we didn’t like but there was so much we loved, great showers, comfy beds; a home from home feeling. We had 2 well behaved dogs and the cottage seems to be have decorated by someone that loves dogs, which is always nice, they got given a treat and bowls, towels, treats and toilet bags were provided free of charge. There are plenty of great dog walks, several attractions nearby that allow dogs i.e. Victorian town. Sonia made sure we felt straight at home with some lovely touches, i.e. Milk, eggs and bread, we even indulged in a beautiful chocolate cake! I recommend you definitely stay here, we sure will be back in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later.
A fabulously furnished and well finished cottage giving both humans and pooches all they need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay! Also a lovely welcome pack was provided by the friendly and helpful owners. We would definitely return again!
Perfect little property hidden away in a gorgeous location! We arrived at night after getting lost up the lane but after a warm cosy relaxing evening by the log fire! We awoke to realise what a gorgeous location the cottage is situated in! Perfect for a little weekend away, especially if you have a canine companion! Surrounded by beautiful walks short and long. Ideal for a hyper active beagle! Sonia was amazingly helpful, always easy to contact! We would all highly recommend! We will be back again in the future.
This is a beautiful cottage – a real home from home. It has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped with high quality fittings and equipment. The property is spotless and well maintained. Everything you could possibly need has been provided right down to a picnic bag. There is a fantastic welcome pack – tea, coffee, milk, sugar, fresh bread and eggs, butter, condiments, spices, olive oil , cake and biscuits. For pets there are treats, bowls, towels and poo bags. The enclosed garden is safe for pets. The cottage is ideally situated close to the River Severn, the Severn Valley Way, the Silkin Way and National Cycle routes. There are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We can recommend the Woodbridge Inn and The Shakespeare for good food. Many of the numerous attractions of the Ironbridge Gorge are within walking distance. We can recommend the Tea room at Maws Craft Centre and it is dog friendly too. We had a truly relaxing few days in this lovely cottage. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Duckling cottage for 5 nights at the end of July with our 2 beagles. On arrival we were greeted by Sonia who was very accommodating and happy to help. The property on arrival was spotless and we loved the welcome wine and cake as well as the gifts and treats left for the dogs which was a lovely touch. The cottages are truly dog friendly and it was so nice to feel so relaxed about having our dogs with us. We had never been to the area before and had a wonderful time exploring – there is no need for the car for the most part as there are so many places to see and things to do within walking distance. We had some lovely meals out in nearby dog friendly pubs and walked and walked for miles. We can certainly recommend a day out at the Victorian village. All in all we had a lovely time and will definitely be back!
This cottage has been beautifully and lovingly furnished. Nothing has been overlooked to make you feel comfortable. Sonia, the owner, couldn’t do enough to make you feel at home. I recommend the cottage and locality 5 stars.
