Puddle Duck Cottage and Duckling Cottage are two luxury self catering holiday cottages that, we’re proud to say, have been featured as one of the top places to stay by The Telegraph. Located in the heart of the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire which is home to the World’s first cast iron bridge and birthplace of the industrial revolution, Ironbridge features ten award winning museums including Blists Hill Victorian Town, Enginuity, Jackfield Tile Museum, Tar Tunnel and Coalport China Museum.
Each holiday cottage offers a truly home from home holiday experience, in a tranquil and peaceful location next to the River Severn at Jackfield There are a fabulous choice of pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk, and the cottages are located near to the Wrekin Way footpath, providing our guests with traffic free scenic walks and cycle trails to enjoy during their stay. The picturesque centre of Ironbridge is only one mile away and has a lovely selection of independent shops and excellent places to dine out.
Our excellent impression of Puddle Duck Cottage started right at the beginning of the booking process, when Sonia took time to discuss exactly what we needed, sent several photos & made exactly the right recommendation about which cottage would be best for us. On arrival, Sonia greeted us & showed us the cottage which is absolutely beautiful – spotlessly clean & well equipped. The welcome package was so thoughtful & very welcome. Sonia is the perfect hostess – approachable, helpful & incredibly friendly. She even took us on a gorgeous local walk & ‘dogsat’ so we could have an anniversary meal without the hounds in tow. I can’t recommend Puddle Duck Cottage highly enough – the only downside was that we had to come home. We will definitely be back.
This was my 4th stay at Puddleduck cottage and yet again it was absolutely superb. The attention to detail, the welcoming extra touches every time makes it like coming home. The local area with so many interesting places to visit and walks for the dogs right from the door, plenty of dog friendly pubs that do good food within walking distance. In summary a most wonderful place to stay
Duckling Cottage was immaculate and everything that had been said about the cottage was absolutely true. It really was a home from home with excellent human and doggie treats waiting for us. Our beagle, Marley, made himself at home and soon learnt his way around! The furnishings were just right and all was very comfortable. Sonia is a delightful host and we were pleased to be greeted by Bella Beagle too. We have already booked to stay again!! and asked our daughter and son in law to join us. A perfect place for R & R. If you follow Sonia’s directions it is very easy to find, we would recommend these cottages to all.
Clean comfy and very well kitted out. We wanted for nothing. Even our beagle Bella had her creature comforts. I would definitely recommend this place. A wonderful location and property for a family getaway. In a beautiful quiet lush enviroment that is close to many attractions. We loved Blists Hill Victorian village. Definitely worth a visit. A lovely 20 minute walk from the cottage with great watering holes on the way such as the Shakespeare Inn and All Legions. Sonia was very accommodating from beginning to end. A wonderful welcome pack was left for us that included chocolate cake, red wine along with the basics like eggs milk and bread etc. Bedding and towels were quality as was everything in the cottage. Debi the housekeeper was so lovely too. Sonia’s husband Darren also has done amazing work around the property. A great team that have made puddle duck cottage a place I’d visit again. Thank you to all Amelia xx
Duckling cottage is lovely, very cosy and nicely furnished and decorated. Sonia had left us a really nice welcome pack with food essentials and treats for us and our doggies. The wood burning stove made our evenings extra cosy. Beds were super-comfortable. Our dogs were safe and secure in a large well fenced outdoor area. The location is superb. Very leafy and pretty, with tons of possibilities for walking and eating out. Nearby Ironbridge is gorgeous, we visited the Tile museum on the way there. Also had a very fun afternoon out at Blist’s Hill Victorian town. All just a short walk away. Would highly recommend and will return for another visit in the future.
We have stayed in some very special properties over the years and this one easily ranks in the top two or three. From the moment we opened the front door we felt welcomed and truly at home. Our every need had been catered for, including a chocolate cake and bottle of wine waiting for us on the dining table. Fruit juice, croissants, bread, butter, jam, and eggs left for breakfast. Spotlessly clean with comfortable furnishings and well equipped we could not fault anything. The location is very quiet with lovely riverside or country walks from the door. The outside spaces are attractive and usable. One of very few holiday cottages that we felt we could live in permanently. Very dog friendly too.
We decided to book this break last minute and it was wonderful. The cottage, the area, the people and the pubs were amazing. I would deffinetely recommend this cottage
We had the best time once again on our second visit to Duckling Cottage. Nothing is too much trouble for Sonia and Darren to make you feel completely welcome and at home and our beagle, Chilli, also has the best holidays here due in no small part to the new toy and jar of treats she finds waiting for her! This time we made use of the gorgeous log burning stove and it was delightful to cosy up in front of it in the evening. The cottage has lovely comfy beds, soft fluffy towels and perfect bath\shower facilities and the kitchen is very well equipped. Local restaurants are often dog friendly and the food is very good as are the Chinese and Indian takeaways nearby. We have totally fallen in love with Shropshire and Puddle duck Cottages and we definitely plan more return visits because we have such a wonderful time that we are loathe to come home at the end of our stay. Many thanks to Sonia and Darren and beautiful Bella beagle. If we could award more than five stars we would!
