Review: Perfectly Peaceful

Puddle Duck Cottage afforded us everything we hoped for and needed. The cottage is in a good location, within easy reach of all the Ironbridge Gorge attractions, with some lovely walks for the dogs and plenty of watering holes, restaurants, cafes and in Ironbridge itself shops that were all both human and dog friendly. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and a home from home for the humans and our four legged friends. Sonia was extremely helpful from the initial booking until we left, albeit we unfortunately didn’t get to meet up during our stay. Although check in/out are 4pm/10 am to allow time for changeover of guests, I understand the owners like to give visitors the opportunity to be flexible on those times when bookings permit. We were fortunate enough to be able to check in early on the Friday and stay as long as we wished on the Sunday due to nobody following us as landscaping works were planned for the following days and the cottage left free so that works would not disturb anyone. Sonia let us know about the early/late availability in advance and we were able to plan an even better break than we had hoped. The welcome pack on arrival was appreciated, with fresh bread, milk, eggs, butter, a lovely chocolate cake and wine for us. The kitchen was adequately stocked with utensils, crockery, basic spices, oil, sauces etc and doggie treats for Frankie and Chelsea; all the appliances you could need are there and even a picnic basket and mats. Attention to detail with the decor was nice to see, beds were comfortable, rooms spacious, good sized bathrooms and a comfortable lounge through to the kitchen and beyond out into the terraced garden. There is access to wifi and a supply of books, games, dvds etc should you wise to avail yourself. The whole weekend was relaxing and refreshing, we had a wonderful time and had no complaints whatsoever regarding the accommodation or the helpfulness of the owners, save to say we were just sorry we didn’t get to meet them and their dogs, but maybe next time as we would have no hesitation in returning to Puddle Duck or indeed in recommending to friends, family and anyone looking for a peaceful break in the heart of Shropshire.
