Dog exercising is a free activity which takes place alongside a number of other recreation activities, events and traffic. High levels of responsibility are required to ensure your dogs do not disturb other park visitors, livestock or wildlife.

  • Dogs must be kept under close control at all times. The parkland contains livestock and wildlife all year round.
  • Dog faeces must be removed, taken away or disposed of in the correct bins. Plastic collection bags can be obtained from the dispenser located at Knutsford kiosk if you forget to bring your own. Two dog waste bins are sited near the Knutsford entrance.
  • In some areas dogs are prohibited or must be on leads. These are clearly signed and include the Gardens, Play area, Farm and parts of the parkland.
  • Dogs are not allowed in Melchett Mere which is a conservation area. Owners who allow their dogs to enter the larger Tatton Mere must ensure that anglers and wildlife are not disturbed and should be aware that toxic Blue-Green algae could be present at any time.
