The Salty Monk is just outside Sidmouth at the end of the National Trust Walk “The Byes” and is near to the Jurassic coastal path, with a wealth of wonderful dog walking just a stones throw away. There are 3 dog friendly rooms with their own access to outside. In addition, your canine companion will be treated to a dog welcome hamper with bowls, towels, torch, treats and information pack. A dog cage, bedding and doggy dinners are also available on request, so you can pack light.
If you wish you can dine with your canine pal in our 2 AA Rosette Restaurant. There is a private car park with some shaded parking, award winning gardens and mini spa with hot tub & sauna for total relaxation.
We found The Salty Monk about 6 years ago whilst looking for accommodation near an elderly Aunt who lived in Sidford and we couldn’t believe our luck. The accommodation, food and hospitality was first class. When we got our dog, we needed somewhere to accommodate him too and he has loved staying at the Salty Monk since he was 4 months old. He was a reluctant eater and it shows just how genuinely dog friendly this wonderful place is, as Annette (the co-owner) got on the floor with him and fed him chicken by hand! That’s dedication. We have been to a couple of other hotels or looked at a great deal of supposedly “dog friendly” hotels around the UK and that usually means the dog is reluctantly allowed to stay in your room. Django, our dog, is as welcome here as we are and if he’s happy then so are we. The “dog friendly” rooms are spacious and comfortable for us all and, as well as the most fabulous walks in the area, there is “The Byes” literally just around the corner where we can take him for a short or long walk. Whilst we bring his food with us, we get to eat the most innovative and excellently cooked meals and drink from their superb wine list. I defy anyone to stay/eat here and not love it as much as we do. We can’t wait to go back.
