They say you learn something new everyday, and this is the case when I discovered Pawfect Scents Wax Melts.
I had no idea that burning standard wax melts or scented candles [you know, the type you get in most high street stores] can in fact be harmful to our furry friends.
Apparently about 70% of scented candles and wax melts sold in shops contain ingredients which can cause harm to our dogs. Ingredients such as Paraffin Wax, Lead, Benzene and artificial scents can all have a detrimental effect on our dogs health, and can cause damage to their central nervous system and can trigger respiratory problems.
What’s even more alarming is that even products which are marketed as pet deodorisers, designed to mask unwanted doggy whiffs, can contain these harmful ingredients.
Pawfect Scents wax melts are handmade in the UK and contain only two natural ingredients, 100% soy wax and 100% natural essential oils. They are allergen free and vegan friendly too.
Helen, the brains behind the invention of these wax melts, is also the proud owner of two Labrador retrievers Chazz n Dave. She wanted to find a way to freshen her home without having to burn harmful chemicals. Thus, after much research, Pawfect Scents was born.
The melts come in four different scents, all of which have different health benefits for your dog and all are presented in a cute little paw print shape. You can order the melts in packs of 15, or alternatively you can order them on a subscription basis so that you always have a plentiful supply in stock.
The scent from one single melt can last for up to 10 hours and you simply burn them by popping them into a tea light holder or electric burner. I have to say, I particularly love the Lemongrass and Sweet Orange – even when they weren’t actually burning and they were just sat in my utility room, they smelt amazing!
Be one of the first customers to sign up for one of their monthly subscription boxes and you will receive a complimentary box of wax melts.
If you decide to give these a try, please let us know. We’d love to hear what you think.
